Central Communications Dispatch Center

Who We Are

The East Providence Central Communications Dispatch Center is the City’s public safety answering point for police, fire, and emergency medical calls. Dedicated civilian dispatchers staff the center 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The center currently has nine full-time dispatchers.

What We Do

  • Our dispatchers answered more than 50,000 emergency calls in 2025 , as well as non-emergency requests for assistance. We gather critical information, dispatch responders, and provide radio communications while monitoring the safety of police officers and firefighters in the field.

  • Dispatchers also provide officers on patrol with real-time information, issue alerts and be-on-the-lookout (BOLO) notices, and coordinate emergency mutual aid to and from East Providence. We operate police and fire computer aided dispatch systems and monitor public safety and City surveillance cameras.

  • After hours, the Emergency Communications Center receives urgent calls  during after-hours concerning the water, public works, and sewer departments, as well as harbor-related issues.
